The milk from our Ayrshire cows has a unique silky smooth texture and has a sweeter taste than regular milk.
This is because it has slightly higher butterfat, protein as well as lactose and smaller fat particles, which are well dispersed through the milk.
The unique taste profile of Ayrshire milk also resulted in trials and experiments being conducted to see if consumers preferred and were able to distinguish between Ayrshire and regular milk from other breeds like Holstein and Jersey.
The results were overwhelming and it was found that in blind taste tests 87% of consumers chose Ayrshire milk as the best tasting milk.
